A Not-So-Original SubwayTake

Julian Casablancas on SubwayTakes

SubwayTakes, a popular TikTok channel hosted by Kareem Rahma, usually features innocuous "hot takes" from celebrities that think they are a lot wiser than they actually are.

Here's a video compilation of the usual takes on the show. Not really anything worth watching, to be honest. One individual advocates for stripping away bicycle lanes and for jumping turnstiles. Another says that "the noise in this town is out of control."

Like I said: Not anything all that interesting.

A recent interview with Strokes lead-singer Julian Casablancas, however, has been making the rounds.

In it, the greasy-haired rockstar offers his rather derivative take on "American Zionists."
American Zionists get the benefits of white privileged people, but talk like they are black people during slavery.

To be sure, "American Zionist," is a euphemism for Jew. It is cowardly to say otherwise. Ashkenazi Jews are white, but are Jews at the end of the day. And they are overwhelmingly in favor if the existence of Israel.

Casablancas, if he were truly courageous, would say "American Jews," instead of hiding behind the facade of anti-Zionism.

@eddyportnoy gets it right...

Chances are he isn't talking about the Mike Huckabees of the world.

I don't wish to comment on the merits of Zionism here. Only the disingenuousness of anti-Zionists who are afraid and unwilling to be truthful about their issues with "the Jews."

Let's be real: most people, while nominally only critical of the former, tend to have issues with the latter, too.
